VIDYA

         

 

      Shot in the remote tribal areas of Chhota Udepur region of Baroda district ”Vidya” Convays the message of literacy with the subtle touches of sentiments of human relationship.

 

      Even though  the film was made to convey the message of literacy, apparently a dry subject from the common viewers view point, VIDYA successfully provide the element of entertainment with the message.

 

      

       It’s a story of an idealistic teacher (played by Devkumar Shah) who gets a posting at a remote village in the  tribal region  which is yet deprived of roads and transport. Not even the  state transport bus services. Soon he finds out that the illiterate & simple people of the village as well as the surrounding area are being cheated by a Trio-Kalu (Ramesh Vora)-A tribal himself, A loan shark Shahukar (Mrugank Majmudar)  and a quake Vaidya/Doctor (Akshaykumar Goswami). The conflict begins.

         The vicious trio is challenged by somebody for the first time, the teacher writes about the pathetic condition of the illiterate village to his daughter Vidya (Deval Dave) who is living in a city. Vidya is a social worker. Touched by the story of the village she decides go there and spend some time there in order to teach the illiterates. As she enters the village she hears somebody playing a flute. She comes to know about Kahana - A tribal youth.

       But she is taken back as she learns that Kahana (Shyam Shah) is a bootlegger. She decides to literate him and make him leave his illegal business. in the meanwhile Kalu  decides to take revenge with the teacher by raping his daughter Vidya. He kidnaps her but Kahana intervenes and rescues Vidya. Later on Vidya tries to convince Kahana to leave bootlegging.

       The story starts taking Dramatic turns from this juncture. Gradually Kahana starts changing himself facing many odds. Impressed by his virtues and commitment to promises Vidya starts loving him. Ultimately they get married and Kahana also joins Vidya in her social works.
