Shyam Shah & Jagruti Shyam in "Nand Das"

         Nand Das is based upon the life of the devout poet Nand Dasji.Like Soordas, Nanddas was also one of the famous Asht Chhap Poets(The group of eight devout poets at the Shrinathji temple) of Pushti Margiya  Vaishnava sect. Nand Das was cousin of the great saint Goswami Tulsi Das . Nand Das has  created several fantastic poetries blended with devotion and romance. This video feature film is considered as Shyam Shah’s prize creation.

           It has  been equally appreciated by the devotees and scholars because of subtle meaningful Dialogues & Directoral touches. The film did very good business in USA, UK & AFRICA. Nand Das received a warm applause from religious authorities  to politicians, Froms Vaishnavas to Maharana of  Udaypur.      

           “Nand Das “ is a story of a poet &  his inspiration – Nand Das (Played by Pankaj Goswami) & Roop  Manjari (played  by Neha Thakur). Roop Manjari was a maid of maharani Jodhabai – The queen of Moughal emperor Akbar. Noted actrees Rita Bhaduri played the character with elegance and devotion. Nand Das had a tremendous  fascination for beauty since  his childhood. But with the grace of Shri Gusainji (son of Maha Prabhu Shri Vallabhacharyaji ) he had a  vision of Lord Krishana - beholder of the ultimate  beauty. His life and poetry  turned towards this eternal of beauty.

            Fascinated by his poetry and singing Roop Manjari decides to become his disciple. Nand Das advised her first to get initiated into the spiritual life of a Pushti Margiya Vaishnava by Shri Gusainji. Roop Manjari did so. The relationship between Roop Manjri and Nand Das  is remarkable . So is the character of  Maharani Jodhabai who understands Roop Manjari’s devotion and helps her to maintain her vows.

 

            The relationship of Tulsidas and Nand Das is also extra ordinary. Both are great  devouts. Both are very good at writing .the only difference between them is the incarnations of God Vishnu they worshipped .Tulsi Das (Paritosh Goswami) worshipped Rama where as Nand Das had surrendered himself to Krishna.

The debate between the two on this issue is very interestingly portrayed in this film. Over all Nand Das is a delight for the admirers of Indian philosophy & culture.
