MANN, MOTI ‘NE KAACH
           

Pinky Parikh in "MANN MOTI 'NE KAACH": She receieved Two awards - State Award and SOI Award for the Best Actress of the Year.

             

      First time in the history of the film industry of Gujarat State, a huge set of red light area was created for this film. Since last three decades majority of the Gujarati films are made based up on either folk or mythological subjects. The launching of this film created a sensation amidst the film industry as the subject revolved around a woman who lands up into the profession of prostitution forced by the circumstances. 

 

          Based on the story of Mr. K. H. Das, District Superintendent of Police, the film portrayed character of a woman who searches and fights for her independent identity. 
         Chanda (Pinky Parikh), a pleasant village girl & the only daughter of the village chief Ravaji (Mularaj Rajda) falls in love with Sooraj (Pankaj Goswami), a folk musician & brother of manu (Devkumar Shah) – a servant of Chanda’s father Ravaji.

       As it happens in a conservative society, Ravaji disapproves the relationship of Chanda & Sooraj. In spite of the efforts of Chanda’s mother Savita ( Jayshri Parikh), Ravaji arranges Chanda’s marriage with his friend Shamji’s (Mrugank Majmudar) son.But, Chanda flees away with sooraj.Annoyed by the incidence, Ravaji takes hold of manu & his wife and keeps them in captivity. To save his brother, Sooraj surrenders to the village chief and disappointed chanda decides not to return to his father’s home & runs away.

            A gang of scoundrels kidnap Chanda & sell her to a woman known as Begham (Hansa Lakod) who runs a brothel. 

            Eventually Chanda adjusts herself with the atmosphere even though internally she is very unhappy with the situation. The only solace for her is a mad man in the red light area. The old man (Devendra Pandit) had lost his daughter to this area and since then he had lost his mental balance.

 

 

       Eventually Chanda comes across a regular visitor of the brothel, Manoj (Bharat Thakkar). Manoj decides to narry chanda and for the first time in the history of the red light area a prostitute departs alive gladded in bridal costume. 
With dreams of a happy family life chanda begins her role of a house wife.

 

The Mad Man in the red light area: Devendra Pandit received the prestigious State Award as the Best Character Actor of the Year.

 

Rohit(Paritosh Goswami) gets killed by Chanda(Pinky).

            But, one day she meets one of his regular visitors at the brothel Rohit (Paritosh Goswami). Rohit is the elder son of millionaire Laxmidas (Feroze Irani). He asks chanda to go with him, but she refuses. Annoyed by the refusal rohit follows chanda to her residence, where he attempts to rape her. In the struggle rohit falls on the knife in chanda’s hand and gets killed. Soon chanda is put behind the bars under the charges of a murder. Laxmidas uses his influence and sees that chanda doesn’t get a good lawyer.           

 

 

      But, his younger son, Satyakam (Hitu kanodia), who is a very very idealistic lawyer himself and who never lied the ways of his brother and father decides to plead for Chanda. Ironically, the public prosecutor (Jayedra Mehta), tries to humiliate Chanda with her past as a prostitute. Even her husband manoj surrenders to laxmidas’ wealth. But Satyakam manages all and saves Chanda

            Pinky Parikh, Hitu Kanodia, Devendra Pandit and Hansa Lakod mark with the film out standing performances. Widely appreciated among the filmmakers & performers, the film “Mann, Moti ‘Ne Kaach” also received 7 awards. 3 from the state Government and 4 from SOI-Chitralekha. Pinky Parikh bagged the awards for the best actress in both the competitions.

            The music of the film was scored by the veteran music director of bollywood, India’s national film industry, Usha Khanna. Top class play back singers like Alka Yagnik, Vinod Rathod, Vatsala Patil & Sanjivani gave rendered their voice for the songs. 

 

              The film was produced under the banner of Seema Films by Manisha Contractor.
